We build free software for South African businesses — designed for mobile, optimised for low bandwidth, and distributed without an app store.

Why we built this

The global app store model has a gatekeeping problem for local markets. Useful tools built for South African businesses — a WhatsApp order collector, a simple invoicing app, a property spec generator — either get lost in a sea of global listings or never get built because the commercial model does not justify the platform fees.

BitShack is our answer. A direct platform for South African-built Progressive Web Apps. No Play Store cut, no App Store approval process, no subscription fees. You open the app in your browser, tap "Add to Home Screen" once, and it works — even offline.

We built it specifically for South African conditions: mobile-first, data-conscious, offline-capable, and free.

Who we are

We are a small South African development team. We build the things we wish existed — tools that fit how South African businesses actually work, not how Silicon Valley assumes they work.

All BitShack apps are built in South Africa, hosted on South African infrastructure, and maintained by us. When something breaks or you have a question, you reach a real person, not a support ticket queue.
